When my soul wakes with the dawn, When the days stretch on and on, I will abide. When my soul is scarred and torn, When my heart is weak and worn, I will abide. In the shelter of His care Resting in His mercy there, This glad soul is full content As I abide. Days of labor, days of rest. Everything He gives is best. I will abide. Without Him I cannot thrive. He alone keeps me alive. I will abide. God in mercy prunes and trims This world’s follies grow more dim. Every day I cling to Him, And I abide. Oh, how precious is the time Spent with Heaven’s one true Vine. I will abide. Growing in His garden here Gracious fruit in me He bears, As I abide. Branch alone cannot survive, But the Vine keeps me alive. For His purpose and His will, I will abide.
John 15: I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Abiding and obeying gives our lives purpose because it is in the midst of these activities that God works in and through us to do His work. –Wendy Blight
