Keeper of My Heart

Sometimes darkness creeps up on my soul, entering the crevasses of my heart and troubling my mind.

I notice the spinning thoughts, the obsession with problems, and the oppressive spirit that weighs me down, and I know it is time –

Time to walk outside into the quickening breeze that promises fall;

Time to allow my mind to wander through drifting clouds and dive into the endless blue sky;

Time to listen to a rippling steam or the brush of sea on sand;

Time to be still in the wonder of God’s creation and remember –

My Creator planned and pieced this mighty creation, and He has not forgotten it or lost me in its vastness.

My Sovereign Lord is still on the throne, and He is attentive to His children.

My Omnipotent God will honor His promises and keep His covenants.

My life is inextricably hidden in His love for eternity. Evil will not win. Death will not conquer.

When the skirmishes and battles are done, victory is sure.

Until then, He will keep my heart.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

II Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Colossians 3:Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

    Very well said Beth. Our hearts need to always be pointed at the Lord. So easily distracted into collecting issues of life that hinder our relationship with God and others. nice photo. It reminds me that god has the ultimate flower arrangement sitting in the middle of a universe of galaxies in this vase we call earth and knows the details of every sparrow and hair on our head. Amazing

      The power of God’s creation always has the ability to center my heart. One of my greatest pleasures is finding His surprises of joy in unlikely places…..like roadside flowers. We have remarked before that decorators and landscapers spend countless hours and dollars attempting to recreate God’s breathless beauty. He is the ultimate Designer! Thank you for reading.
