Unchanging

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

What is trustworthy in this world?

  • friendships change
  • marriages fail
  • people turn
  • goods deteriorate
  • relationships end
  • dreams dissolve
  • hopes diminish

How easy to become disillusioned and turn to despair. How easy to allow darkness to take over?

When my trust rests in this world, no matter how good the cause or institution, I will eventually be disappointed.

This was true in King David’s time, and it is true today. David, though, realized the solution.

“O Lord my God, in Thee do I put my trust.” Psalm 7:1

The only sure foundation, the only unshakeable One is God.

        He does not change.
	He will sustain. Psalm 55:22
He is my Rock. Psalm 62:6
His throne is established. Psalm 93:2
	He is everlasting.

He has called me to be untroubled in this changing world for He alone is in control.

John 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Sometimes people get confused over God changing His mind as in 2 Kings 20 or Genesis 6 as though He cannot change it because of Hebrews 13:8.
The fact is God DID change when He became a man, and He often changes His mind in response to our prayers. The Hebrews’ passage is referring to His identity, character and eternal existence, not His thoughts. A “new thought” is a change. 😉

A timely post Beth and the photograph is stunning. “How easy to become disillusioned and turn to despair. How easy to allow darkness to take over?” That temptation seems so very real these day. BUT I love the knowledge that “He has called me to be untroubled in this changing world for He alone is in control.” I’ve been holding fast to Psalms 31:14-15 “But I trust in You Lord, I say, ‘You are my God my times are in Your hands…”

Thank you for these precious affirmations about our Father God. We have so many comforting truths and hope-filled promises to hold on to in scripture. THAT’s where we need to focus our attention!
