You Are

You are
the treasure of my heart,
the Bright and Morning Star
Who lights the steps I take.
You are
the One Who rescued me,
giving liberty
from chains I couldn’t break.
You are.

Questions swirling in my head;
accusations – God is dead -
but I know that You are alive.
My heart beats assured that You
rose triumphant from the grave,
and You alone have the power to save.

You are
mercy wrapped in love,
grace I don’t deserve,
my foundation, strong and true.
You are
the Song in every day,
my Refuge in the way;
I find my rest in You.
You are.

When the doubts attack my heart,
Tearing my soul apart,
Angry waves of sorrow crash down.
Still, I cling to the Rock,
Fortress of my fragile soul,
For I know that You are in control.

When I don’t know the answer,
I remember the One I know,
and I hold to the truth
of Who You are.

    For me, this poem unfolded as a rally cry to keep going and fight the good fight. Thank you for the encouragement!
