The Right Focus

When I focus on the problem,
I am overwhelmed;
my feet are paralyzed
and my heart is troubled
and shaken.
My emotions scream
no hope,
no answer,
no light,
no help,
no purpose.

When I focus on Jesus,
my perspective changes
and light breaks through.
Though answers may elude me,
I know He is in control.
He will guide my steps.
I will pray.
I will wait.
I will listen.
I will obey.
I will trust.

Matthew 17:And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Matthew 14: 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face.
And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace.

Oh, how I second you in what happens when I focus on the problem! Fortunately, I’ve had experiences where I can second you in what happens when I focus on Jesus. The circumstances can remain the same, but I have a much better perspective.

I like the picture of the toadstool, and thanks for the lyrics of the song.

This was a tiny toadstool in the yard. I had to get down close to Earth to capture it. I loved the colors. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is always good advice. Thank you for reading.
