This morning, a song by Andrew Peterson keeps looping in my head and heart. A prayer for faith, it speaks of our need for the Father.
It seems a good prayer for today.
“Faith To Be Strong”
Give us faith to be strong
Father, we are so weak
Our bodies are fragile and weary
As we stagger and stumble to walk where you lead
Give us faith to be strong
Give us faith to be strong
Give us strength to be faithful
For life is not long, but it’s hard
Give us grace to go on
Make us willing and able
Lord, give us faith to be strong
Give us peace when we’re torn
Mend us up when we break
For flesh can be wounded and shaky
When there’s much too much trouble for one heart to take
Give us peace when we’re torn
Give us hearts to find hope
Father, we cannot see
How the sorrow we feel can bring freedom
And as hard as we try, Lord, it’s hard to believe
Give us hearts to find hope
Give us faith to be strong
Give us strength to be faithful
For life is not long, but it’s hard
Give us grace to go on
Make us willing and able
Lord, give us faith to be strong
Give us peace when we’re torn
Give us faith, faith to be strong.

I Corinthians 16:13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. NKJV
Psalm 103: 13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; 18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Hebrews 6: 18 That by two immutable (unchangeable) things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast

I don’t think I’ve ever heard or sung that song, but it is so appropriate, both in general, and for me, in specific terms. This year I am dealing with arthritis, and with taking on more family responsibilities here at home. I know I have it much better than many other people, but sometimes–life is hard. Thanks for posting it.
