Lord

When the God of the Universe moves into a heart, He cleans up the neighborhood.

I do not work to earn God’s favor or salvation but knowing Christ as Savior changes me. He makes me a new creation, and, as a new creation, I am under new Management.  Life is different.

My mom used to tell me that I was not a Billy goat. Her point was that I did not need to be inserting ‘buts’ when my answer should just be ‘yes’.  You have heard it – I have probably said it at one time or another –

  • I am a Christian, but…
  • I love God, but…
  • I am following God, but…

Billy goat buts.

Paul warned Titus about this in Titus 1:16.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Knowing Christ impacts my lifestyle; He changes my heart, which changes what I love, what I do, what I say, who I am. He calls me to sacrifice my rights and opinions to His Lordship.

God IS the boss of me, and that changes every part of who I am.  The good news is that His management far exceeds my own.

Lord,
Let me take seriously Your place as Lord of my life,
submitting my every moment to You.

You are Lord when I am anxious.
You are Lord when I am angry.
You are Lord when I am filled with sorrow.
You are Lord when I hurt.
You are Lord when I am in need.
You are Lord when joy runs out of my soul.

My emotions and my circumstances do not change
Your place of authority in my life.
You are always the leader, and it is my place to follow –

through hard times,
through disappointments,
through persecution and trial,
through times of ease.

You are the constant, the stabilizer, the sure foundation.
When I called You my Lord,
I left no room for ‘buts’ in the relationship.

You are my past, my present, and my future.
You are my Shepherd, and my job is just to follow You
and be with You.

The work will come.
The opportunities will come.
The purpose will come.
The provision will come
through You.

You are Lord.

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Acts 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
