Deceit isn’t new.
Mocking and ranting and lies aren’t new.
Persecution of those who follow Christ isn’t new.
Hypocrisy isn’t new.
Adversity isn’t new,
and the reality that people exist who make it their business to spread untruth and practice deception isn’t new either.
We can read about all of these attitudes and actions in Psalm 35, which was written thousands of years ago.
Even Solomon said “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
But I have a choice.
I can surround myself with these attitudes and bury my hope in the destructive ways and words of the world; I can wallow in the despair of current trends and hateful ways, or
I can magnify the Lord and take pleasure in that which glorifies Him.
I can be thankful and praise His name.
I can favor the righteous cause (35:27), and I can shout for joy and be glad.
I’ve made my choice, “And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.” (Psalm 35:28)
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
