Sometimes my faith feels like an army marching forward,
stepping in rhythm
to the Spirit’s heart.
Song flows easily – the message clear and simple to proclaim.
My heart stands strong in trust and secure in belief.
But sometimes my heart trembles in the face of the trial
and my army retreats,
looking for a refuge, a place to hide.
The song rings out in sobs,
and the message – almost forgotten.
Then I stand, not in the strength of my own heart,
but in the absolute sureness of the good character of God,
and the certain truth of His Word.
Then His strength is made perfect in my weakness.
II Corinthians 12: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
