We often picture submitting to God’s will as a struggle, and for our human selves it is. We grapple for control and relinquish it after being wrestled to the ground by circumstances.
God’s plan, however, is that submission flow naturally from our recognition of Who He is and our free choice to accept His love and align with His purpose.
Only then can we realize the sweet fellowship of walking with Him.
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Perfect submission, all is at rest.
I in my Savior am happy and blessed.
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
Fanny Crosby
The pastor of the church I attend spoke about surrender on Sunday. While he talked, God impressed me with the thought that, “Surrender is being willing to want the best life for myself.” I don’t think He meant the best life materially–that’s not God’s focus–but the best life spiritually, physically, emotionally and mentally. Put that way, it makes the necessity of surrender easier to swallow..

That is a good point. I think if we could ever grasp God’s tremendous love, we would run to Him in surrender.
