Not a word to describe this elderly frame
dressed in boots for gardening,
face flushed with perspiration,
crowned by silver hair that has long since lost
the luster of youth.
But the four-year-old pixie stood
head askew,
smiling as she made the proclamation.
“Adorable.”
The gift of the young
to see with the heart
rather than the eyes,
to proclaim worth and beauty
where the jaded gaze of age
might pass over
or tsk with pity.
Heart eyes see more,
and perhaps more clearly,
unclouded by the world’s perception
of beauty and grace.
Heart eyes look beyond
and connect with love –
the Father’s kiss
on the forehead
of humanity.
I Samuel 16:7b for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
I John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
