Many years ago during a sermon, Dr. Curtis Hutson made the statement “I want to love Jesus so much that when I look up into Heaven and say ‘I love you’, He’ll look down and say ‘I know’.” Those words have stuck with me through the years. To me they speak of showing love rather than just talking about love, and they bring to mind Christ’s instructions to His disciples before He went to the cross.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
The following is my response.
I want to love Him so much
That when I look up and say
Jesus, I love You,
He’ll look down and say I know.
Words are so easily spoken
Promises made and then broken
Daily life leads into sin and defeat.
Trials come and I fall
Although I want most of all
To lay a crown at my Savior’s feet.
I want each step that I take
And each decision I make
To bring honor to my Savior’s name.
I need His strength each day
To follow in His way.
To live for Jesus is my highest aim.
He proved His love for me
When there on Calvary
He stretched out his arms and died so willingly.
Now every day in every way
I want my life to say
Thank You for all You’ve done for me.
