I Go to the Mountain

I run to the mountain;
my feet swiftly go.
I run to the hillcrest
for this place I know.

I run from the valley
the noise and the fray.
My heart seeks its peace
on the hilltop, away.

For there on the mountain
my soul is at rest,
and there I discover
new strength for each test.

There on the mountain
My Father’s still voice
speaks to my heart
in notes that rejoice.

In His gentle presence,
so sweet and so near,
My heart hears His wisdom;
His grace calms my fear.

Psalm 121: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Psalm 125:2  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
