Lost, my heart knew only darkness;
Hostile to the Lord of love.
Craving every sinful pleasure
without thought for God above.
Restless wandering filled each new day;
Sleepless agony each night.
My heart stumbled at the thought of
Christ, the Everlasting Light.
His arm pulled me from the darkness;
Broke sin’s bond that held me fast.
Now my heart in His is anchored,
and in Him I’m safe at last.
His great mercy, ever reaching,
called my heart to claim His grace.
His amazing goodness found me,
pulled me into His embrace.
All accounts by Him now settled;
No outstanding debt I owe.
Reconciled to stand before Him;
His cross has declared it so.
Rescued from the power of darkness;
Bound no more by Satan’s chain.
Fully pardoned by the Father,
Cleansed, redeemed in Jesus’ name.
