God IS love. Love is not something He does, it is Who He is – an intricate part of His character. He cannot be separated from love.
Therefore, the instructions and warnings we read in His word have their basis in love – the love of the Father seeking to protect His children from that which would hurt them.
Where we see confinement, He sees protection.
Where we perceive restriction, He sees a safe haven in which we can live and reach our fullest potential.
From the very beginning in the garden, Satan has sought to convince us that God is trying to keep the best from us; while from the very beginning, God has offered with open hands all that is good and right to provide an abundant life.
In His love, He has also given us choice. We can choose to believe the lie that Satan has propagated, and live feasting of the husks of sin and self, which never quite fill the emptiness that plagues the human race; or we can choose to trust God and receive the fruit of His love that He wishes to lavish upon us.
I John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (atonement) for our sins.
I John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God” therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
