Quietness

Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. 16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

The noise and din of this world permeate
and overwhelm the senses
calling us to hurry,
enveloping us in the business of living
and doing,
wrapping us in tentacles that bind
us to this Earth.

God calls us to be still and know
that He is God.

In that stillness we catch a whisper of another world
that is home.
We feel a moment of warmth
from the Light that illuminates
all who live there,
and our hearts gasp
at the Presence of
all encompassing Love.

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Quietness does not come naturally to most of us, and it is a choice we must make when faced with the constant demands of daily life.  Quietness allows the spirit to recharge in the presence of the Father, and even a moment of quiet can do much to still the racing of our hearts and minds.

No matter how busy you are today, stop for a moment, breathe deeply, and rest in the grace of God.  Do not allow the urgent to crowd out the important in your heart.

Ecclesiastes 4:6 Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
