The Faithful Potter

1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

When your heart is broken,
God is still faithful.
He sees the brokenness and offers grace.

The potter works with the clay,
pressing and molding and sometimes crushing
so that he can reshape the clay
into a vessel
more beautiful,
more durable,
more useful
than when he began.

God is our Potter.
His faithfulness continues
through the crumble and the cracks,
through the brokenness,
and lives in the promise of healing
and resurrection
and joy.

God is not surprised by a medical diagnosis,
by the betrayal of a friend,
by the rejection of a loved one,
or by the disintegration of a dream.
His faithfulness provides shelter in the storm
and a lifeboat in the tempest.

God’s faithfulness is demonstrated
not by the absence of the storm
but by His willingness and ability
to carry His child
safely through.

Jeremiah 18:8 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.pottery

Lamentations 3:22-24 22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
