Responding to Psalm 3

Psalm 3:2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.  But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.  I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.  I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.  I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

In the stillness of the evening
At the passing of the day,
My heart longs to know Your presence
As this world’s noise fades away.

So, I lift my heart to You,
And my voice cries out Your praise.
All I am I give to You
Living in response to grace.

As the night dawns into day,
And the world awakes,
My heart longs to know Your presence
As I face a brand-new day.

In the heat of noontime sunlight,
In the rush and push of time
My heart longs to know Your presence
And to feel Your heart in mine.

So, I lift my heart to You,
And my voice cries out Your praise.
All I am I give to You
Living in response to grace.

This world is not my home.  I live here as an alien and a pilgrim.  Therefore, there will be problems –

Communication Chaos

Culture Clashes

Confidence Crashers

Through all of this, God is a shield for me.  He is my glory and my encourager.  My confidence and my sustenance are in Him. His grace is the stabilizing force in my life, and as the old hymn states – “His grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.” (John Newton)
